Unison Research Unico CD Player
The Unison Research Unico CD Player is an integral part of the Unico range, both in appearance and in electronic design. It employs leading-edge technology and features some of the latest and best components, including D-to-A conversion chipset's from Crystal and a microprocessor from Philips which takes care of disc reading and information display functions. All the necessary information is shown on a large 8192-pixel screen capable of both text and picture display. The screen is back-lit and has fully automatic brightness adjustment which adapts to the ambient lighting to provide ease of reading at all light levels. The CD transport chosen is of a very high-quality. The motors incorporated in the transport are of the low-vibration, brush-less, asynchronous type. The laser has a glass lens, which is superior to the plastic lenses used in most CD players. The guides and supports for the moving parts of the tray are lapped steel (not plastic), and the output signal from this transport is an S/PDIF. As an added bonus the mechanism is mounted on a rubber suspension to reduce the possibility of vibration affecting the reading capability of the laser diode. The signal is filtered by a passive network and sent to a valve pre-amp stage which operates in pure Class-A using 1 x ECC82 double triode for each channel. Audio output signals are provided in both balanced and low-impedance unbalanced (>100 Ohms) mode. Output: Digital and analogue.

Unison Research Unico Pre-amplifier
Unico Pre-Amplifier is a versatile and fine - sounding preamplifier based on hybrid valve and mosfet technology. Although designed as the
natural partner for Unison Research Unico DM dual mono power amplifier, it will give excellent results with virtually any good quality
power amplifier. The fully solid-state input stage uses J-Fet technology, whilst line level amplification is entrusted to three twin-triode
valves. A phono stage is built-in, which is also fully solid-state using low-noise op-amps designed specially for audio use to give excellent
performance on vinyl replay. RIAA equalisation is active for the low frequency band and passive for the high frequency band. The phono stage
will cater for both MM and MC cartridges, including those with low (i.e. less than o.5mV) output. For maximum flexibility of use, five unbalanced
inputs are provided, and three (line 2, 3 and 4) are also balanced. One pair of balanced outputs is also provided, as well as two pairs of normal (
unbalanced) outputs. All connectors are gold plated to guarantee excellent contact surfaces throughout the life of the product. Unico Pre is supplied
complete with radio wave remote control of volume, activated by an elegant wood handset. Radio control is a convenient feature, allowing distant
operation even out of sight of the preamplifier if required. The input selector is a high-quality unit, hermetically sealed with sliding gold contact
surfaces for silent operation and long life. The large power on/off switch pad incorporates a soft back-lit multi-led display to provide visual indication
of status. The Unico Pre-Amplifier is also equipped with the same Link and Loop facilities of Unico DM Power Amp, to enable remote switch-on and switch-off,
activated either by musical signal or by power-on from another unit in the chain. No Unison Research product would be complete without an attractive appearance.
Unico Pre is no exception, its understated elegance being enhanced by machined stainless steel controls that are silky smooth in operation. Its half case width
form means that Unico Pre can be placed side-by-side with one or more Unico DM power amplifiers to give a high power yet compact stereo or multi-channel set of
outstanding sonic performance.

Unison Research Unico DM Power Amplifier
Unico DM is a dual-mono power amplifier using both valves and mosfets. It combines the sweetness and sonic purity of a valve input stage with a high
power output stage to give complete control over any loudspeaker. Unico DM has also been designed for maximum versatility. It can be switched to mono to
give 500 watts, and can be used in a multi-unit system in which power linking and switching are taken care of automatically. Twin triode ECC82 signal
valves are used in the input stage and give to DM its convincingly natural sound quality. The output stage employs two pairs of complementary mosfets per
channel to provide a generous 150 watts of power. Balanced (XLR) and unbalanced input connectors are provided, with the possibility of simultaneous operation.
In bridged mode (mono) either balanced or unbalanced inputs may be used as required. More than one DM power amplifier and associated preamplifier may be used
together, for which a power link facility is provided. This allows automatic sequential delayed switch-on of all units connected by the link. When the DM is
not operating, it remains in stand-by, ready for music activated automatic switch-on. In stand-by, power consumption is very low. The front panel hosts an
impressive power switch, back-lit by an array of multi-function LED's As well as providing smooth, uniform illumination, these LED's also serve as status
condition indicators. During stand-by, illumination is reduced to low level. On power-up, the intensity of illumination gradually increases; and if the
protection circuit is activated for any reason the LED's will initiate a warning signal by flashing repeatedly. Unico DM is a big-hearted, versatile and
fine sounding amplifier. And like all Unison Research products, it is built with pride and care to give a lifetime of musical enjoyment.
